November in Nantucket Brings the Festival of Wreaths
The 18th annual Festival of Wreaths is right around the corner, and the residents of Nantucket could not be happier. This year promises to be another stellar year as businesses from around the community continue the tradition of posting their most beautiful and colorful wreaths for all in town to see and enjoy.
This year, the festival’s preview party will be held from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Nantucket Historical Association’s Whaling Museum. It promises to be a beautiful scene as schools, organizations, local businesses and nonprofits present their decorated wreaths during the week of Thanksgiving for the viewing pleasure of the community.
During the week of Thanksgiving, Nov. 23 to Nov. 27, visitors can come in during business hours and bid on their favorite wreaths during a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting the year-round outreach efforts of the NHA. At the end of the week, the winning bids will be announced, and the winners will be presented with their prize wreaths.
But in the end, everyone’s a winner when they enjoy this fun, festive and free event. This is truly a time for the community of Nantucket to come together and remember that we are more than just neighbors, we are family. For those who have not attended in the past, you simply don’t know what you are missing.
